Production management (plant nurseries) + E-commerce

NurseryOS

NurseryOS manages nurseries from the mother plant through to sale, tracking batch genealogy to support EU plant-passport labelling requirements. It records growth and health observations while keeping POS and webshop stock synchronized.

The problem

Commercial nurseries and garden centres face a core challenge: tracking plant lineage from propagation through to sale. Batch genealogy is recorded in notebooks, making it difficult to prove plant origin when plant-health authorities conduct inspections or suppliers audit traceability. Plant-passport data is entered onto labels by hand, a process that is time-consuming and error-prone. As nurseries grow and add webshops, inventory numbers diverge across the greenhouse, point-of-sale system, and online store, leading to overselling and customer disappointment. Predicting which plants will be available when relies on intuition and memory rather than data, making it hard to give customers accurate timelines.

The product

NurseryOS manages nurseries from the mother plant through to sale, with integrated modules covering plant registration, plant-passport labelling, inventory tracking, growth observations, point-of-sale, and webshop synchronization. The system records species, cultivars, and propagation batches with full lineage tracking, then prints compliant plant-passport labels automatically. Inventory is tracked by location and pot size across greenhouse and shop, with all stock moves logged. The point-of-sale system runs barcode-based transactions with thermal printing, while webshop stock and prices synchronize bidirectionally with Shopify and WooCommerce. Staff can log growth stages, pest and disease notes, and treatments with photos, and forecast seasonal availability based on batch stage and historical loss patterns.

What it does

Plant & batch registry

Record species, cultivars, mother plants, and propagation and graft batches with full lineage tracking.

Plant-passport data & labels

Manage plant-passport fields for each trading unit, print compliant labels, and maintain operator registration data.

Inventory & locations

Track inventory by house, bay, and pot size, log stock moves, and record losses.

Growth & health observations

Log growth stages, record pest and disease notes, document treatments, and store photos.

POS

Run a barcode-based POS system that generates receipts and prints them thermally.

Webshop sync

Synchronize stock and prices bidirectionally with Shopify and WooCommerce.

Problems it solves

  • Batch genealogy is tracked in notebooks, making it difficult to prove plant origin when needed for compliance or customer queries.
  • Plant-passport data is entered onto labels by hand, which is time-consuming and prone to error.
  • Inventory numbers are inconsistent across the greenhouse, point-of-sale system, and webshop, leading to overselling and customer disappointment.
  • Predicting which plants will be available when relies on intuition and memory rather than data, making it hard to give customers accurate timelines.

Standards it follows

  • Regulation (EU) 2016/2031 requires plant passports for plants traded between professional operators, operator registration, and full traceability. This regulation has been in force since 14 December 2019.
