Production management (dairy collection & payment)

MilkNet

The system automates milk collection and payment processing for dairy co-ops and small dairies. It integrates analyser data for intake recording, calculates payments based on quality parameters, and produces farmer statements alongside herd and treatment records.

The problem

Dairy managers across Europe struggle with manual milk intake recording and payment processing that frustrates both farmers and administrative teams. When suppliers grow in number, tracking quality parameters, calculating payments fairly, and maintaining treatment records becomes unmanageable with spreadsheets and paper forms. Disputes over quality-based pay deductions are common, traceability requirements create compliance risk, and farmers demand transparency into how their milk is valued, yet today's systems offer no visibility.

The product

MilkNet is a web and mobile application that automates milk collection and payment processing for small to mid-sized dairy co-ops and farm dairies. The system captures intake data directly from analyser devices or manual entry at each delivery point, applies the client's customizable pay model to calculate farmer payments based on volume, fat percentage, protein content, and quality bonuses or penalties, and produces itemized farmer statements so each supplier understands their valuation. Managers track herd health and veterinary treatments to ensure food-safety compliance, farmers access quality trend visualizations, and co-op administrators maintain member profiles and cooperative records in a single system.

What it does

Supplier & tank/route model

Manages the core entities: farms (milk sources), tanks (collection vessels), routes (delivery schedules), and collection schedules that orchestrate pickup timing.

Intake capture

Intake data can be entered manually or imported from analyser devices via file export, serial connection, or Bluetooth link at each delivery point.

Pay calculation

The pay calculation engine applies the client's customizable price model—factoring volume, fat percentage, protein content, and quality bonuses or penalties—then closes each accounting period.

Farmer statements & portal

Farmers receive itemized statements showing each delivery, a full delivery history, and quality trend visualizations to understand how their milk is valued.

Herd & treatment records

The system records animal groups, veterinary treatments, and withdrawal periods linked to each delivery, ensuring compliance with food-safety regulations.

Co-op admin

For co-ops, the system tracks member profiles, maintains a share capital ledger, and archives meeting minutes and board resolutions.

Problems it solves

  • Manual intake sheets and payment delays frustrate both farmers and administration.
  • Quality-based deductions from pay often trigger farmer disputes when the calculation is unclear.
  • Treatment records and withdrawal periods are difficult to track, creating food-safety compliance risk.
  • Members and milk buyers increasingly demand transparent reporting and traceability data.

Standards it follows

  • The system supports recording veterinary medicines and antimicrobial treatments in line with regulatory requirements.
  • The system maintains food traceability records as required by regulation.
  • Payment invoices and self-billing documents comply with the e-invoicing directive.
